Loving Fifty Years
We sat down at the table, with our hearts open wide, two different worlds, yet side by side. You see a little rain, I see a little sun, but that’s the beauty of how we’ve just begun. Like stars in the night, we might clash and collide, but there is a galaxy of love when we don’t have to hide. Embracing the dance, the ebb and the flow, in this beautiful chaos, together we grow.
It’s okay to disagree; we don’t have to see eye to eye. In the space between our dreams, there is love that never dies. You love to wander; I love to stay. We paint the world in different shades of gray. I might hum a tune while you write a rhyme, separate rhythms, creating perfect time.
With every little difference, we come to understand that harmony is more than just holding a hand. We can build a bridge on what we perceive, and find common ground in what we believe. In every word, in every song, sometimes we are right, sometimes we are wrong. But in the silence, there is a melody that says it is fine to just be you and me.
It is okay to disagree; in our hearts, we know why. In the dance of you and me, we have a love that will survive.
